Frequently Asked Questions

  • How often do you update the site?
While we launched the initial 1.0 of the site, we still have much more planned before we consider the main content "done". We'll periodically post updates as changes are made to the site. We also plan to provide regular rolling updates whenever we learn of new releases, live shows, interviews, or fan-created sheet music. Periodically, we'll also add pages to the Extras section whenever we have time to add something fun!
  • I have an audio bootleg/video bootleg/photo/other that isn't posted on the site. Can I contribute?
Absolutely! You can get in touch by filling out the Contact Us form and selecting "Contribute Media". Even more directly, you can reach us by joining our Discord community, where folks are usually around to chat: https://discord.gg/xxvJhTXb4q Either way, the site runs on fan-contributed content, so we're always happy to make your media accessible!
  • Is Regina Spektor aware of this site?
Not to reveal too much, but Regina is indeed aware of the site. If we're lucky, there may be more to come, so fingers crossed!
  • What are the Beauty demos and why are they not on the site?
The Beauty demos refer to 5 demos recorded by Regina Spektor for the now canceled Broadway musical Beauty. On 2009-09-16, it was announced that Regina Spektor would be composing the music for a musical called Beauty. Tina Landau would write the book and direct, while Michael Korie would write the lyrics. Regina would go on to confirm her involvement in subsequent interviews through 2011. On 2011-11-06, a number of demo songs related to the musical were leaked online as a result of a hack, acknowledged by Regina in a Facebook post a day later. Ultimately, Regina does not consider the Beauty musical demos to be part of her catalog of songs, and we will respect that view by not further contributing to the proliferation of the illicitly acquired songs.
  • Was that Regina I heard on some songs by The Crimea?
On 2007-04-30, the British indie band The Crimea released their second LP Secrets of the Witching Hour. Very early versions of the album, including some sent to reviewers, included uncredited, spoken-word vocals by Regina Spektor on five of the album's tracks. Ultimately, inclusion of these vocal performances were not approved by Regina nor her label, and so they were required to be removed from subsequent CDs and digital downloads. As a result, there exist three versions of Secrets of the Witching Hour: one with unapproved spoken-word vocals by Regina Spektor, only available on early CD copies marked as "for demonstration use only not for resale", one which was offered for sale on a mail-order basis from the band's website beginning on 2007-06-04 which removes the vocals altogether, and one which replaced Regina's spoken-word vocals with ones performed by Amy May, made available for free download on The Crimea's website before eventually being shifted to Limited Run. This version is now the only version available on streaming platforms. In addition to Secrets of the Witching Hour, Regina is also featured providing uncredited, spoken-word vocals on the song "Opposite Ends - Live in St. Louis", which was featured on the enhanced CD2 version of The Crimea's White Russian Galaxy single, released on 2006-04-06 in the UK market. All of these uncredited, spoken-word vocals were likely recorded at a 2005 show for which both Regina Spektor and The Crimea were supporting Keane. Given the nature of their creation, Regina does not consider these songs to be part of her catalog, and we will respect that view by not featuring the unauthorized songs on our site.
