Interviews
The Fly
June 7, 2004

Description:
Regina Spektor, a Moscow-born and Bronx-raised singer-songwriter, is celebrated for her classically-trained piano skills and unique songwriting, often incorporating multiple languages for mood rather than meaning. Her career took off when Strokes producer Gordon Raphael discovered her song "Poor Little Rich Boy", leading to the creation of her album Soviet Kitsch and a collaboration with the Strokes on the B-side "Modern Girls And Old Fashion Men". Despite touring with major acts like the Strokes and Kings of Leon, Spektor remains unsigned, funding her tours independently. With Soviet Kitsch's release and her upcoming solo tour, Spektor's distinctive music is poised to make her a household name.
