Description:
Regina Spektor, a classically trained pianist from Moscow, transitioned to songwriting in her teens, inspired by her own boredom with classical practice and encouragement from peers. After graduating from SUNY Purchase and self-releasing two albums, she caught the attention of Strokes producer Gordon Raphael, leading to collaborations with the band and tours with the Strokes and Kings of Leon. Her album Soviet Kitsch showcases a genre-defying style, blending rock, pop, classical, and punk influences. Spektor embraces her solo status, allowing her to explore diverse musical styles and establish herself as more than just "a girl with a piano."
