1.1.1 Update - Songs (and Other Songs) Part 1

Happy New Year! We wanted to share a brief update after the conclusion of the Songs (and Other Songs) series of shows in Brooklyn last month.

December 2024 - Songs (and Other Songs) Shows - Brooklyn, NY

The Songs (and Other Songs) shows were truly once in a lifetime (okay, maybe a few times in a lifetime) performances. Some highlights:

  • First ever performances of "Oedipus" and "December"

  • Very rare performances of basically the rest of Songs

  • "Samson" as the opener? Probably the one and only time we'll get that ;)

  • Incredible performances of rarer songs like "Aquarius" and "Open"

  • Excellent mid-show banter in which we learned more about the origins of "Aching to Pupate" and "Daniel Cowman"

  • Special shout-out to Spektor's Thesaurus on Night 2! (thanks Regina!!!!)

  • Lots of fun people in attendance, including Songs' producer, Joe Mendelson

  • Both new and long-time fan meet-ups, creating new friends and so many great memories

  • and of course, Regina at the top of her game!

It was such a blast, and luckily we were able to get bootleg audio of each show! More on that below. Regardless, the best way to experience these performances is live...if only there was still a way to do that...

Upcoming - Songs (and Other Songs) Shows - Chicago, IL and Los Angeles, CA

Just a reminder that there's still a chance to check out these phenomenal performances if you live in Chicago or LA. At the time of writing, there are still some tickets available for February 23rd show in LA and the March 4th show in Chicago! Get tickets here.

As always, if you plan to record, please send us a copy and we can host it on the site! Contact us here.

New Additions - Interviews

A couple quick additions to the archive...

  • 2024 video interviews

    • 2024-11-26 | ABC News Live Prime - Regina talks about the remaster of Songs and hints at new music and more shows for 2025!

  • 2003 print interviews

    • 2003-11-01 | Anti-Up [the magazine] - Regina is interviewed using questions from the Daily Show...a very bizarre and hilarious interview dug up from srg's scan of an old zine, definitely worth checking out!

  • Speaking of print interviews, we've found a couple more super early interviews trapped in the bowels of the Internet which we will hope to make available soon. If you have any print interviews from before 2006 or so, please let us know!

New Additions - Concert Bootlegs

As previously mentioned, we were able to get audio and photos of each of the Songs (and Other Songs) shows in Brooklyn, NY. A couple folks managed to snag a couple videos too! Here's a summary of what's been added:

P.S. Check out reginaspektor.net for some alternate recordings of these shows!

What's Next

We'll keep our eye on the upcoming shows in February and March. Until then, we'll focus on expanding some other areas of the site...stay tuned!

That's all for now, goodbye and hope you have a wonderful 2025!
